artist bio
Paavo Olavi Airola was born 14 June, 1918 in Karelia, Finland. He was a Finnish painter.

He began his art studies in Helsinki privately from 1941-42, and then studied in Sweden at Otte Sköld's s malarskola (Painting School) in 1947, and at Isaac Grünewald's malarskola and Académie Libre in Stockholm from 1947-48 (studying at these two latter schools with Börje Hedlund as painting teacher). He took private study trips to Paris, Denmark, Holland, England, Russia and Mexico.

He has had solo exhibitions in Sundsvall and Amal in 1947, in Gävle Folkets hus in 1947 and in Stockholm in 1948 and 1950. He exhibited in a number of the Gävleborg County konstförenings utställning (Art Association) exhibitions.

Airola was primarily a painter of landscapes, still lifes and portraits and he painted in a simplified, puristic abstract and non-objective style. He worked predominantly in oil or watercolours.

In 1952 he emigrated to Canada and settled in Colborne, Ontario. He worked as an art teacher conducting art classes in Trenton, Belleville and Cobourg. Airola also pursued a career in nutrition and natural healing, and his writings were published in a number of books on the subject.

Examples of his work are held in public collections including the National Gallery in Stockholm, Orebros Museum of Fine Art, Jämtland's museum, Östersund, Hudikswal Art Museum, and in North America at the London Art Museum, Ontario and the Zacks Collection, New York.

Airola passed away in 1983.

Good sunscreen, but the shade didn’t work for me
Color: Medium
I bought the Colorescience Flex in Medium because I had seen great reviews and liked the idea of a tinted mineral sunscreen. The formula itself felt really high quality and it did provide good sun protection, but the shade didn’t end up working for my skin tone. ✔️ What I liked: - Great daily mineral sun protection. - Lightweight texture and easy to apply. - Didn’t irritate my skin or cause breakouts. - Nice natural finish at first. ❌ What I didn’t like: - On my skin, the Medium shade looked orange. - The color didn’t blend well with my undertone. - I had to work it in quite a bit to avoid a noticeable line with my neck. I think the formula is really good, but the shade selection definitely requires care. In my case, it just wasn’t the right match

Finally found my perfect match!! In foundation!
Color: Medium, Color: Medium
I’ve used many high-end foundations over the years, but Colorescience has become my everyday favorite. It feels incredibly lightweight on the skin and provides a natural, healthy-looking finish that doesn’t feel heavy or cakey. The added SPF is a huge bonus and makes my morning routine so much easier. I also love how perfectly it matches my skin tone, it blends seamlessly and looks like my skin, just more even and polished. If you prefer a natural, lightweight foundation with the added benefit of sun protection, this one is definitely worth trying.

Worth the investment! It lasts!!
Color: Medium, Color: Medium
I have been using this religiously as my foundation for over a year! I love it. It works best for me when I use moistuzer, let it dry enough so you have a little slip. A LITTLE goes a long way and double check the bottle because even when it feels empty it’s not fully empty :) it’s not a full coverage approach to foundation I use an elf glo setting over it in winter . It’s light weight and the SPF was what I was looking for!
